About our-experiences
our-illness was the first of the sites on the our-experiences network, and was developed by a pair of family doctors who, despite over 40 years' experience of treating people, often found that they could not answer all of their patients' questions about their illnesses simply because they hadn't experienced the condition or investigation or treatment themselves, and medical training doesn't always help to understand how it feels.

They passed on what they have learned from others, and realised that their patients found this very helpful. They came to understand that there is a huge untapped resource of knowledge and experience out there which could help millions if it was properly organised.

our-illness is their attempt to do this.

You have all experienced illnesses, tests and treatments before, varying from a sore throat to a heart transplant. Your knowledge is really helpful to other people, so we ask you to share it.

It soon became obvious that there are many other parts of our lives in which we could benefit from the experiences of others, and new sites are being developed to help people share experiences in education, travel, even to share amusing or interesting thoughts.

Everyone can read the contributions and rate all of our content to help other people easily identify the most useful contributions, but to make a contribution yourself you need to register. Once you have registered you can contribute to all the sites in the our-experiences network. We will organise the information you share and make sure people know how to gain access to it. You can share it under your username or anonymously.

The only personal information we keep is your e-mail address and username and, because we will not share this with anyone else, you can join in safely. We don't do spam.
